REDMOND HOME INSPECTIONS

WETT Inspections

A WETT (Wood Energy Technology Transfer) inspection is a safety and code compliance check of a wood-burning system, such as a fireplace or wood stove. These inspections are required by insurance companies before they will provide a policy for homes with wood-burning appliances. A detailed report will be provided.

What a WETT Inspection Covers

  • Visual inspection:
We will visually examine all parts of the wood-burning system, including the appliance, chimney, hearth, and clearances to combustibles.
  • Code and safety compliance:
The inspection ensures the installation meets current codes and manufacturer’s instructions for safety.
  • Written report:
After the inspection, a written report detailing the findings is provided.

Why a WETT Inspection is Important

  • Safety:
It helps ensure your wood-burning appliance is not a fire hazard for your home and family.
  • Insurance requirements:
Many insurance companies require a WETT inspection to insure a property.
  • Compliance:
It confirms that the appliance and its installation comply with relevant codes and standards.
